A few months back Crate and Barrel asked me to plan their Private Registry Event for them. Crate and Barrel are pretty much the masters of the wedding registry and it is their goal to make the experience for couples registering as enjoyable as possible, they open their store early once a month (or so) to allow couples to come and register, they get the entire store to themselves and loads of staff on hand to answer questions, do demonstrations, etc. Crate and Barrel wanted to take that idea and expand on it, by inviting local vendors to come in and offer some additional fun interactions for the couples, while also advertising their businesses to Crate and Barrel brides. So that’s where I came in- to plan this additional portion of the event! Houston was one of 3 test spots to try out this new concept event- I’m hoping they turn it into a regular thing, because it was A LOT of fun. I brought in several of my favorite Houston vendors and we had a blast.
We did a bit of pretty signage outside to help guests know which door to come into, plus I knew it was going to be a pretty little moment. I’m pretty much completely over chalkboard, but I’m really into painting on wood or brainstorming other interesting surfaces.
Dionne, owner of Nib and Pixel came out to do her thing- she created custom crests for all of the couples there, they were just insanely beautiful- our color palette for this event was very neutral- white, black, gold, copper, wood, marble, with tiny touches of butter- I love that she stuck to that palette to create the crests.
My good friend Erica, owner of Hey Lovely came out to do a braid and beauty bar- they did these beautiful braided up-dos and quick makeup demonstrations.
Although I also planned this event, I like to make my life as difficult as possible and that wasn’t enough for me, so of course I had to get in on the fun and have a booth as well. I hired my amazing friend Abby to come and work it with me, she taught us all (myself included) how to make these beautiful hyacinth flower crowns, by the end of the day- we were all decked out in crowns.
Smilebooth came and set up one of their super fun photobooths. Luckily, their booth was close to our booth- so we may have taken advantage of that. They also played along with our theme and did a golden filter for all the photos.
My ridiculously cute October couple, Janice and Matt, also came- they are really too cute for words AND we just took some CRAZY engagements for them that I simply cannot wait to share.
Everyone was also able to register with the store all to themselves, with tons of super helpful Crate and Barrel staff around to help them, looking back on my registering experience (blindly walking around Bed, Bath, and Beyond- WHAT??), I totally wish I could go back and do this instead.
As a fun bonus for the event we had several “moments” set up around the store- both to show off some of the vendors work as well as get the brides inspired for their own wedding day. I treated it like a photoshoot and did several different “vignettes”. This was the invitation suite- designed by Nib and Pixel, it was really stunning.
I also designed the tablescape- Nib and Pixel did the beautiful calligraphy on all of the marble pieces. We used all Crate and Barrel inventory and man- their stuff sure makes for an insanely pretty setting. I love the flowers that we created for this event too- I went a very soft and pretty route, but added in TONS of crazy and wild texture.
Natalie, owner of Jade Magnolia created our cake, she also had a booth full of insanely beautiful and delicious treats for all the guests to sample.
This event was so fun and very unlike what I typically do, so an extremely fun change of pace. I’ll keep you posted on social media if we do another event like this. In the meantime, I’ll be dreaming of that caramel drizzled cake up there!
