Liberty + Stephen | Feather and Twine Photography

When I meet with a potential client and they tell me that they have already booked their photographer…it’s always a a bit stressful. Photos from my bride’s weddings are so important on many levels. First, (the selfish reasons) if the photos are bad I can’t use them in my portfolio, I can’t share them on instagram, etc. Secondly, after spending a small fortune on a wedding, I feel like my brides deserve to have some amazing photos to remember their day? After the wedding it’s all they have left! So when Liberty told me they had already booked someone I sort of held my breath….this conversation always goes one of two ways- either they booked someone fantastic and I get excited or they booked a dud and my interest in even working with this bride starts to fade. When Liberty told me that they had booked Feather and Twine…I was ecstatic! Not only are they amazingly talented, but over the years they have become good friends of mine. We have done several shoots together at this point and love to refer our clients back and forth to each other. Talk about a sigh of relief and excitement. I came onto the wedding pretty late and they had already taken their engagements so I can take absolutely NO credit for how fantastic they are, but dude…San Francisco, you are looking mighty good. My brother has lived in San Francisco for about 5 years now and I have yet to go out to visit him…looking at these photos I’m not sure what I am waiting for!

I have been so insanely blessed this year to have some really amazing clients. Nubia and Ryan are no exception and have been so fun to work with. Their wedding is coming up this fall and I can’t wait- we have some really amazing vendors on board, my friend Korie Lynn being one of them, who happened to snap these gorgeous engagements.

Vivian and Kevin | Feather and Twine Photography

I am really excited to share these engagements. Two of my good friends- Kelsey and Talon with Feather and Twine shot the images and will also be shooting the wedding come December. Vivian and Kevin are the kind of clients I dream about. They have a really strong vision and know what they want, they look to me for creativity and direction, but they also push me outside of my comfort zone to do better. That happens you know, I get nestled into this safe zone- design wise, vendor wise, and creativity wise- and sometimes I need a little shove to go beyond what I think we can do. And from there things only get better. Vivian and Kevin are getting married on New Year’s Eve which I am really excited about, something about the magic of NYE feels really special. I’m SO ready. In the meantime, here are their completely adorable engagements to tide us over. A phrase we have been using a lot in the design process with them is “child-like wonder” and I think these engagements sum that up pretty perfectly. Vivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine PhotographyVivian + Kevin | Feather and Twine Photography

Candace and JR engagements {Christine Gosch}

You may remember the little contest Christine, Erica, and I had going a few months ago. Well, Candace and JR were our lucky winners (I talked about our inspiration and mood board for this shoot here). It was such a fun little project and Candace and JR were so very sweet and just all around excited in general that they had won. Here are some of the gorgeous shots that Christine captured of these two.

And as a fun little behind the scenes action- here I am setting up with my “assistant”.

Oh man, I really do love having this guy tag along with me to all sorts of stuff. Kris was there to wrangle him of course, but nothing makes me happier than having Phoenix dancing around in the background while I work :)

sneak peek with a side of engagements {Brittany and Jordan}

So this past weekend was filled with wiping a sick little boy’s nose and an event design presentation that I am really (really) excited about. I hate to even mention the first thing, but Phoenix has been sick for almost an entire week…yesterday, he finally took a turn for the better- thank you LORD. But it was a really awful couple of days…plus we are used to being sick, pumping in the vitamins and being over it in a day, two days tops. So the fact that this thing hung on like a bull fighter at a rodeo, well…it kind of sucked.

On to better topics. So this weekend I met with my adorable client Brittany and we talked about this right here.

Cute no? Brittany has some good taste ya’ll and she is pretty much the most adorable and sweetest thing ever. Her and her mom and sisters have all just opened this boutique too, I kind of want to go buy everything they have #notkidding and I am so excited to start working to bring her wedding to life- which is going down next November…sometimes the hardest part of these things is the waiting…ALL of that waiting :/ To tide us over here are her and Jordan’s gorgeous engagements!

April & Trevor {Mustard Seed Photography}

Woohoo! It’s engagement picture time. I’m so stoked to share these. First of all let me introduce April and Trevor. They are getting married in Trevor’s parent’s backyard next year right off of Lake Conroe. This definitely won’t be your typical backyard wedding ya’ll. I can’t wait to share more as we get closer- April and I both itching to get started on the design of the event, but backyard weddings have so many darn logistics and getting those out of the way is NO fun. Stupid logistics. But on to the awesome delicious meat of this post- the engagements by Kat from Mustard Seed. Guys, I have had a huge wedding industry crush on Mustard Seed Photography for years now. I used to bum their photos for content (with permission of course) over here before I had anything exciting to show of my own (like this, this, and this). So the fact that one of my clients has finally hired them is just SO exciting! We could have absolutely no decoration at this wedding and Kat would still make it look like a gold mine. But you know we are going to decorate the heck out of that backyard right? Like I said- the design is on the back burner at the moment, but so far April’s buzz words have been art deco, black, white, gold, sparkle. PERFECT. Oh yes, like I said- on to the meat.

Aren’t they gorgeous/adorable/that couple that you want to be. Yah I could go on and on. But I’ll stop for the sake of our self esteem. Oh and by the way- if you are one of my clients and haven’t sent your engagements my way PLEASE do it now! I would love nothing more than to feature your beautiful face over here and gush about how awesome you are :)

Shelly & Ryan {Patti Johnston}

Hello there! So I can’t believe summer is almost over… August is here which means we are MOVING! Seriously, this is the week. Our new place should be ready by the end of this week so we are officially packing up, making last minute furniture purchases, wrangle our one year old, and try to get some kind of sleep in the process…. I am so excited about the potential of this new place- I know this isn’t really a DIY blog of any kind, but I am still an interior designer at heart and reading design blogs just so happens to be one of my favorite past times so if I start to veer into design/DIY territory just bare with me. Pretty please.

BUT today has absolutely nothing to do with any of that. Today is all about some of my favorite new clients Shelly and Ryan. These two are one of the sweetest couples that has come to me yet. They currently live in Oklahoma so I never actually met them before they booked me, which always makes me a little nervous. BUT we had several phone conversations and before I knew it they made the trek to Houston for a weekend so we could meet and seriously get their planning started. They were easy-going, sweet, and just plain nice. They also have this little spark in their eyes…you can tell they are just so in love. These are the kind of people I get so excited to work for.

Isn’t Shelly gorgeous? Seriously- these people find me ya’ll! Shelly’s super sweet mom Patti also happens to be an amazingly talented photographer and while they knew there was no way she could capture the wedding day- they did want her to be involved with their engagements- so these are all her.
