{A JLD Wedding} Casey and Michael part 2

I’m back with the rest of the goods. And before I get wrapped up in the sound of my own voice (sound of my own typing?)- here is part one in case you missed it. Aisha with Ama by Aisha captured everything and can I just gush for a minute and say that she is awesome! I am kind of in love with that time lapse video from Wednesday and all of the photos for today of course. So let’s dive right into the good stuff shall we?

So this is where it all went down. It’s a cute place – a little too “decorated” for my taste, but very cute. It’s also very small- keep in mind this wedding only had 30 guests. The Clipper House Inn is nestled right in the shopping area of Kemah, not on the boardwalk, but on the other side.

Here is the “guest book”- Casey had the idea to have guests write wishes on wishing stones instead. I love this idea- they were so pretty!

So I actually did all of the flowers for this wedding- it was so small and a lot of the great florists I know have $1000 minimums and because this wedding was so small we only needed a couple hundred dollars worth of flowers. I really didn’t want to sacrifice quality or get something that wasn’t what Casey and I had in mind so I decided to go for it. Casey was game and had total faith in me. The hardest part was definitely the bouquets- getting that perfect bouquet shape is a little tricky, but the good thing about flowers is that I could pull and tweak and restart as many times as I needed. This just makes me want to dive in and do more, I really had fun doing the flowers and think I would love to someday add that in to the services that I offer….but then I remember that at my last wedding my florist pulled up to the venue with 2 cars, a giant van, and running on two hours of sleep…so then again maybe not.

All of the arrangements we did for the reception were single stems shoved into a variety of containers I found at antique and thrift stores, so while still very pretty took literally zero amount of talent. And for only being 30 people it was a staggering amount of flowers. We did all of the florals in white since we wanted to bring color into the vases- we used snapdragons, mums, wax flower, baby’s breath, and ranunculus.

These pins were my idea, they were tiny 1″ pins that I ordered from this Etsy store. Everything about this wedding was outdoors and we had so few people that not doing escort cards would have been stupid. So this was a cute and quirky way of using place cards that wouldn’t blow away. We just pinned them right onto the napkins.

Casey made this little owl cake topper- isn’t it adorable?
